In the 1980s the RYP formed an enduring collaborative relationship with Niall O’Baoill at Wet Paint. Working through drama, the collaboration was consolidated in the production of a trilogy of plays that spanned up to 1995. Niall O’Baoill coordinated production and introduced Kathy McCardle. That trilogy was issue-based. Each play cycle took a year to complete from the very first meeting, building the interest, the writing process and the performance to the sign-off on the evaluation. The second play, produced in the early 1990s, was called In the System and was themed around the Aids crisis.
